Jimmy Fallon shocked fans earlier today when it was revealed he and wife Nancy Juvonen welcomed their second child, a daughter, via surrogacy. “The couple opted to keep their baby joy to themselves until their new daughter made her official debut,” said the proud parents’ rep in a statement to People.

“Frances Cole Fallon officially entered the world at 8:45 a.m. on Dec. 3, weighing 5 lbs., 11 oz. and is 18.5 inches long,” the statement adds. “Their new addition joins big sister, Winnie Rose, [16 months]. Both Fallon babies were born via surrogate.”

In case you missed it, Jimmy and Nancy have been very open about their fertility struggles, which lasted five years and eventually led them to the use of surrogacy.

Congratulations to Jimmy and Nancy! I am assuming fans will get to see a confirmation (and maybe a newborn photo?!) this evening on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

It is so wonderful when surrogacy is in the news in such a big way. When celebrities and notable people have their children via surrogacy and then announce the good news in such a vibrant, positive way, it sheds positive light on surrogacy as an amazing option for people to have children. Often we are hearing about negative issues such as the Baby Gammy case, the Thailand ban on surrogacy, the French protests, etc. But let’s give heartfelt congratulations to Jimmy Fallon and his wife, and let’s thank them for sharing their happiness that came to them through surrogacy.
