How Are Surrogates Compensated?

Founder and Legal Director, Victoria T. Ferrara, and her team of in-house legal experts work to ensure that your surrogacy contract ensures fair and reasonable compensation.

Base Compensation

Being a surrogate mother provides a wonderful sense of self-fulfillment and the unique satisfaction of helping prospective parents start a family. Worldwide highly values the commitment and dedication of our surrogate mothers, and we offer generous compensation packages with a base compensation ranging from $35,000–$50,000 based on Gestational Carrier’s insurance, experience, and requests.

We work with our surrogates to develop and determine a compensation package that’s fitting to their unique situation.

Possible expenses covered/compensation package additions include:
  • Monthly Allowance/Monthly Expense Fee
  • Maternity clothing allowance
  • Embryo transfer fee
  • Travel expenses
  • Lost wages
  • Housekeeping/childcare
  • Medical expenses
  • Legal expenses/attorney expenses
  • Life insurance
  • GC lost wages (including GC spouse if applicable)
Additional expenses covered/compensation package additions, if needed, include:
  • Caesarean section
  • Multiples fee
  • Invasive procedures
  • Cancelled cycle
  • Mock cycle
  • Psychological counseling
  • Alternative insurance coverage if GC’s policy contains surrogacy exclusion
  • Pumping breast milk
  • Selective reduction
  • Pregnancy termination
  • Reproductive organ loss
Sign-On Bonus

An additional $500.00 sign-on bonus will be given if you are able to provide us with all records and documents needed within two weeks of initial application completion. This bonus is provided after you are matched and contracts are signed with your intended parents.

Additional Bonus

If you know someone who may want to be a gestational surrogate and lives in a “surrogate friendly” state, please refer her to vferrara@worldwidesurrogacy.org.

To show our appreciation, we offer a bonus of $500.00 when your referral is matched and she signs a contract with her intended parents. We realize that you probably don’t expect any compensation for assisting others to fulfill their desire to help an infertile couple, but it is our way of thanking you for helping.

Let us emphasize once more that being a gestational surrogate can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. We would be honored if you let us be a part of your miraculous journey.

Additional Tips for Surrogates During the Contract Phase:
  • Surrogates are not responsible for paying for anything out of pocket.
  • Escrow should be fully compensated.
  • IPs should not issue 1099, and your agreement should say so.
  • Compensation for invasive procedures/loss of reproductive organs should be considered.
  • A monthly allowance should be accounted for, plus lost wage compensation.
